The Faith of a Pharmacist

Proverbs 3:5,6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Today, I begin a new chapter in my blog. Up to now, I have essentially limited my writing to Theology. While at some point I intend to return to that focus, it seems that the time is right for something a little different. I don’t intend to abandon my Faith Journey. Rather, I want to look at that Journey specifically, at the actual events and experiences which have shaped where I am today.

Vocationally, my life has been largely shaped by two panoramas: My personal faith in Jesus Christ, and my training and life experience as a Pharmacist. Faith preceded Pharmacy by about 9 years. Nevertheless, God has mingled the two to produce what I am. Therefore, my intent is to express how God has shaped both and used them over the 51 year span of my life.

God knows where this will lead. It is called Providence. I have depended upon that leading for most of my life, as evidenced by my life verses referenced above from Proverbs. The eyes of Faith have caused me to comprehend that nothing happens by chance. This is true for everyone, but the unfortunate reality is that not everyone sees life by Faith. My hope is that my Faith will spur others to likewise gain the ability to recognize Providence in their lives.

Psalm 37:23,24 “The steps of a man are established by the LORD; and He delights in his way. When he falls, he shall not be hurled headlong; because the LORD is the One who holds his hand.”
