Romans 15:15,16 “But I have written very boldly to you on some points, so as To Remind You Again, because of the grace that was given me from God, to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles, ministering as a priest the gospel of God, that my offering of the Gentiles might become acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.”
It is important to Paul to rehearse the facts regarding the ministry given to him by God relative to The Gentiles. Most likely, the Believers to which he is writing in Rome were primarily Jewish converts from Peter’s sermon on The Day of Pentecost, now many years past. Paul’s ministry has been primarily, not to the Jewish Nation, but to Gentiles, all according to God’s Plan. Paul has had a desire throughout his ministry to connect to this thriving group of Believers in Rome, but because of their background and the urgency and priority of reaching Gentiles who had never heard The Gospel, God had prevented Paul from going to Rome. In this rehearsal of the facts, Paul is compelled “To Remind You Again” regarding his place in God’s Plan, and what he knows will happen as he now goes to Jerusalem to bring the offering from The Gentiles to the Jewish Believers there. He is certain that somehow God will work the circumstances to bring him to Rome.
This reminder of Paul’s focuses centrally on The Gospel, the message of The Blessing and The Curse and how God has fulfilled His Promised Plan through Jesus Christ. In that Plan, God had told Abraham and Israel that all the Nations of the world would be Blessed, and that The Gentiles would become joint partakers of The Blessing. Paul is the first instrument used by God to bring that about. All The Gentiles reached by Paul will likewise enter into the furtherance of God’s Blessing to The Gentiles. Paul wants the Believers in Rome likewise to be mutual participants in spreading God’s Blessing to The Gentiles. Our perception of human history reveals how that developed. Paul was the first instrument used by God “To Remind You Again” of that Plan.
I think God is urgently trying “To Remind You Again” of His Great Plan, still calling to The Gentiles, but also a tiny Nation at the Center of the world. Hear His Voice!
Romans 15:29 “And I know that when I come to you, I will come in the fullness of The Blessing of Christ.”
