A Servant

Romans 15:8-9a “For I say that Christ has become a servant to the circumcision on behalf of the truth of God to confirm the promises given to the fathers, and for the Gentiles to glorify God for His mercy;”

Paul doesn’t mince words as he draws his conclusions in his Letter to the Romans. His focus of conclusion is our Lord Jesus Christ. Having said all he has regarding The Blessing and The Curse, the fulfillment of God’s Plan in human history, ultimately it all comes down to the Servanthood of our Lord as He has confirmed for Israel the promises given to the Fathers from Adam to the Patriarchs, and for the Gentiles in extending mercy to those who were not His People. Paul, as the Apostle to the Gentile Nations quotes from Deuteronomy, the Psalms and Isaiah to demonstrate that God’s Plan all along has been the redemption of both Israel and the Gentiles through the Fact that Jesus Christ would come as A Servant.

Jesus Christ as A Servant of God the Father becomes the basis of Hope. In the midst of the downward march of human history, where human lives are filled with hurt, disappointment, disease, broken relationships, and a host of other ills there is One Beacon which shines, the Hope of Regenerative and Restorative Relationship with Jesus Christ through the Redemption He has provided through His Blood at the Cross and empowered through His Resurrection by Grace from His Throne to overcome all the human woes which have befallen mankind. Relationship with Jesus Christ then becomes the basis for restoring fallen relationships among mankind, building His People which consist of both the Redeemed from Israel and the Gentiles. It all is possible because Christ became A Servant.

O, Glorious reality!

Romans 15:13 “Now may the God of Hope fill you with all Joy and Peace in believing, that you may abound in Hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
